On 1st March, 2023,President Yoweri Museveni was awarded with the prestigious ‘Order of South Africa' medal in recognition for his contribution in the liberation of the people of South Africa from the domination of colonialism. The award was handed over to President Museveni by President Cyril Ramaphosa at a State dinner hosted at Sefako M Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria. During his peroid at university, Museveni joined ANC a South African political group who were fighting for their liberation it is importantant to note that president Museveni has always been a Pan Africanist. In 1989, Uganda under Museveni gave moral, political, and logistical support to the African National Congress (ANC) when they had issues in Angola. His government advocated for African unity and independence from colonial rule where he supported liberation movements across Southern Africa, especially the ANC hence contributing to Pan African solidarity, in fighting for freedoom and liberation.
