After two years of junior secondary one and two at Mbarara high school, President Museveni later joined Ntare School in 1961 on a bursary from the Ankole Kingdom Government, however, he was required to pay shs 270 to top up on the money paid for him which was about Shs 520 full cost paid per annum. For the first time Mzee was able to pay his school fees through the money he had deposited at the bank.
He liked arts subjects for example English Literature, History, Health Science and Biology.At the end of four years, he sat for the Cambridge School Certificate Examinations. During holidays before joining the university, he worked as a teacher at Bweranyangi Girls High School during holidays between 1964 and 1965 where he taught primary 4, junior secondary one and Senior One which had just started.
At the same school, Museveni completed his A ‘level, where he studied History, English literature, Economics and General paper and sat for final examinations at the end of 1966.
