Description

President Yoweri Museveni appealed to the East African countries to urgently harmonise higher education standards to promote academic mobility, regional integration and economic development.

While delivering a keynote address at the First Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA) at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Museveni said fragmented education systems were holding back the region’s development and undermining the vision of a unified East African Community (EAC).

“Once I have qualified here, I should be able to move and be employed in another East African country,” the President said. “That is what integration means. We must resolve the issue of education standards across East Africa if we are to build a viable and self-sustaining future.” Museveni added.
