On September 10th, 2025, President Yoweri Museveni and the First Lady Janet Museveni, who is also Minister of Education and Sports, hosted the Uganda Cranes for dinner at State House Entebbe after their commendable performance in the CHAN 2024 tournament. 

Uganda hosted the CHAN 2024 Tournament with Kenya and Tanzania under the Pamoja arrangement.  Games involving the Uganda Cranes were played at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. 

Uganda Cranes finished top of Group C in a group that had South Africa, Algeria and Guinea to storm the quarterfinals. 

However, the Cranes’ fairytale run at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) came to a close at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, following a narrow 1-0 defeat to defending champions Senegal in the quarterfinals.
