President Museveni Opens the 4th NRM National Conference


On August 25, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially inaugurated the first meeting of the 4th National Conference of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

In his address, President Museveni congratulated the newly elected members and commended the emergence of a new generation of leaders ready to carry forward the legacy and vision established by the party’s founding members.

The conference is being held under the theme: “Protecting the Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”

Outlining key priorities for the next term, President Museveni underscored the need to focus on the following strategic areas:

  • Fighting Poverty: Ensuring that all Ugandans benefit from national development.
  • Combating Corruption: Safeguarding national progress through firm action against corrupt practices.
  • Strengthening Law Enforcement: Enhancing police effectiveness in crime prevention and ensuring accountability for any lapses.
  • Maintaining Infrastructure: Prioritizing road maintenance, with an annual allocation of 1.3 billion shillings per district.
  • Promoting Free Education: Sustaining access to free education in government schools.
  • Improving Healthcare Access: Expanding and strengthening health services across the country.
  • Ensuring Clean Water Access: Guaranteeing that every community enjoys access to safe and clean water.

President Museveni expressed optimism that by focusing on these core areas, Uganda will achieve a meaningful transition into high middle-income status, securing sustainable development and prosperity for all citizens.
