President Yoweri Museveni releases a dove to launch the fourth phase of the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) project for West Nile and Karamoja regions at St. Charles Lwanga SS grounds in Koboko in May 2019. This initiative was led by the National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U) and aimed to connect the regions and new border points to the national fiber optic network, extending internet access and e-government services. The project aimed to extend internet connectivity to the West Nile and Karamoja regions, as well as new border points like Oraba, Vurra, and Mpondwe.
