Museveni commissions 498 Officer Cadets at Kaweweta Military Training School

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the Commander-In-Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) on Friday November 7, 2025, officiated at the commissioning ceremony of 498 Officer Cadets of Intake 19/25 at the UPDF Basic Military Training School, Kaweweta, Nakaseke District.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as well as ambassadors and military delegations from fraternal African countries.

Museveni receives $53m military equipment from Russia

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hailed Russia as a historically and ideological partner in Africa’s liberation struggle, emphasizing that Uganda’s relationship with Moscow extends far beyond defense cooperation.

The President made the remarks on Sunday, October 26, 2025, while officiating at a ceremony where the Russian Federation donated defense equipment valued at $53 million to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF). He also launched the Military Mechanised Major Repair Facility at Gaddafi Military Barracks, Magamaga, and a workshop in Entebbe that is under construction.

On 6th February 1981, the NRA launched a guerrilla war against Obote’s government, beginning what became known as the Luwero War. This war started with only started with 41 men armed with only 27 guns, their behavioral character was based on discipline, patriotism, and the protection of civilians. The rest were consoled as 'commandos' but were essential carriers of the looted munition. 

Museveni honoured with a monument

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was honoured with a monument for his immense contribution towards the development of the Greater Ankole region. The monument was erected in Rushere Town Council, Kiruhura District by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers. Museveni started his journey on developing Ankole even before becoming the Ugandas President, in his youthful age, he moblised cattle keeper by sensitising them to stop practicing nomadism but rather embrace other best practices of carrying out cattle keeping in one area and improve their livehoods.
