On 7th February, 2016 President Yoweri Museveni launched the 2nd edition of his book “Sowing The Mustard Seed” that he edited himself. During the launch that took place at Serena hotel, Museveni said, that he decided to rewrite it personally so that he could tell a clear story. He also said the first edition had grammatical mistakes and therefore he had instructed the editors not to edit the second edition. This book talks about his life, education, liberational wars and victory to presidency.

President Museveni was officially nominated as a presidential candidate for the 2026 election on 23 September 2025 at the Electoral Commission offices in Lubowa for his seventh term in office ahead of the 2026 general elections. Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson, confirmed that he had fulfilled all nomination requirements for Presidential candidates
 

On August 24, 2013, Museveni and Janet renewed their vows during their 40th wedding anniversary. The couple was blessed with four children together identified as Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Natasha Museveni Karugire, Patience Museveni Rwabwogo and Diana Museveni, additionally their family has gracefully expanded with 15 grandchildren. Their marriage has been a significant aspect of their public life, as Yoweri Museveni has been the President of Uganda since 1986. 
 

On 12th May, 2001, Museveni began his second presidital term after a massive campaign where he won with a 69.3% as a National Resistance Movernment (NRM) flag bearer. His manfesito was "Consolidating the Achievements" where promised to continue implementing sound economic policies, investing in health and education, and fostering regional cooperation.
 

Parish Development Model (PDM) is a government strategy designed to uplift households from subsistence farming into the money economy by improving incomes and welfare at the parish level. This was launched on 26 February, 2022 by HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Kibuku District. This was the president’s idea to create a government initiative aimed at uplifting millions of Ugandan households with low-income earners from poverty. PDM brought to the parish level to empower communities’ local management planning, resource distribution and enterprise development.

In 1997, Museveni published Sowing the Mustard Seed, recounting the liberation struggle and Uganda’s transformation.
The book covers his early life in rural Ankole, education, and political awakening, leading to his role in the Bush War with the National Resistance Army (NRA). Museveni portrays the struggle as a fight for freedom, justice, and democracy, highlighting the sacrifices of his comrades. 

On February 6, 1981, Museveni launched a guerrilla war with 41 fighters, with only 27 armed with guns and pistols and attacked Kabamba Military School. This bold move launched a 5-year guerrilla war that liberated Uganda. 

Led by President Yoweri Museveni drove along Masaka-Nyendo-Katigondo-Ssembabule road in an old truck with one mission, to attack Kabamba Military Barracks and grab as many guns as possible so that they start a revolution to overthrow President Milton Obote.
