President Museveni was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Faith University of Turkey on 6th May, 2010. The degree was in recognition for his contribution to the development of political and commercial relations between Turkey and Uganda. This award  highlighted the importance of international cooperation and the role of leadership in fostering global partnerships and also served as a testament of President Museveni's commitment to enhancing Uganda's international standing and its relationships with other nations.

In June 2004, Museveni received the prestigious Golden Plate Award in Washington DC for leadership achievements.He was recognised for his incredible achievement which included, liberating Uganda from regimes that had led to the death of many Ugandans due to political insitabilities, leading a successful armed struggle that liberated the country from two decades of dictatorship and restored peace and stability and also his exemplary leadership Uganda. Bishop  Desmond Tutu handed the award to President Museveni.
