The President directs Presidency Minister on Lakwena victimsPresident Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reiterated the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s key contributions to Uganda's socio-economic transformation.

“We are here with other leaders to present to you the NRM manifesto for 2026-2031 and in that manifesto we point out to you that in the last 40 years, NRM has made seven (7) contributions to Uganda,” he said.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed strong concern over what he described as a persistent and “illogical” imbalance in the distribution of government primary and secondary schools across several districts in Busoga Sub-Region, calling on local leaders to correct what he said was undermining equitable access to education.

On December 12, 2010, Makerere University awarded Honorary Doctorate to President Museveni. President Yoweri Museveni received his Honorary Doctorate of Laws Award Letter from The Chancellor Makerere University, Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera.

H.E President Museveni was awarded in respect of his outstanding achievements and exceptional contribution to the advancement of humanity; in particular his commitment to Agricultural modernisation and value addition,Education, Science, Technology, Innovative leadership and Women Empowerment.

H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni joined the University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania where he studied Political Science with an ideology of becoming a freedom fighter having for a longtime studied history of colonialists that had opened his eyes.

At the end of 1958, Museveni passed an oral interview by Mr. Edward Cleaver the headteacher of Mbarara high school hence joining secondary education at the age of 14

He left his parents’ home to stay at school, marking his first time of staying away from home and their kraal permanently since then. Joining secondary school changed his environment in regards to subjects that were taught during his primary level.

In 1950, Museveni started his formal education at a church sponsored alphabet school at Muyogo Church of Uganda and later joined Kyaamate girls’ school in 1952 during second term. This school was nicknamed Kyenkobe meaning the school of monkeys because all pupils in it were so young, the majority of the pupils were girls with only four boys.
