President Museveni Campaigns in Moyo District at Celecelea Stadium

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pledged to make education in government schools completely free and expand wealth creation initiatives aimed at transforming households into active players in Uganda’s money economy. 

While addressing a mammoth crowd during a presidential campaign rally at Celecelea Stadium in Moyo District on Friday, October 17, 2025, President Museveni said the next phase of the NRM government would focus on ensuring that no child is denied education because of school fees and that every family participates in income-generating activities. 

President Museveni Opens the 4th NRM National Conference

The First Meeting of the 4th National Conference of the National Resistance Movement (NRM)

On August 25, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially inaugurated the first meeting of the 4th National Conference of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

In his address, President Museveni congratulated the newly elected members and commended the emergence of a new generation of leaders ready to carry forward the legacy and vision established by the party’s founding members.

Yoweri Museveni nominated as a Presidential Candidate in the 2026 General Elections

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was nominated as a Presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections on September 23, 2025.

The ceremony took place at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Lubowa, Wakiso District, where Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson, confirmed that he had fulfilled all nomination requirements for Presidential candidates.

President Museveni's campaigns will run under the theme: “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status”.

Capture of Kampala

On January 26, 1986, Museveni's National Resistance Army (NRA) fighters captured Kampala after a five-year guerrilla war known as the Ugandan Bush War, leading to the establishment of a new government under Museveni's leadership. 

The NRA forces successfully captured the city from the retreating Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA), signaling a definitive victory.
