President Museveni proposes select committee to resolve cattle compensation in Lango

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has proposed the formation of a select committee of trusted representatives from the Lango subregion to directly engage the government on the long-standing issue of livestock compensation. 

The President made the proposal during a high-level meeting with leaders and residents of Lango at Lango College grounds, on Sunday 17, August, 2025 where emotions ran high over delays, and frustrations surrounding the compensation program.

President Museveni and the First Lady host the Uganda Cranes for dinner

On September 10th, 2025, President Yoweri Museveni and the First Lady Janet Museveni, who is also Minister of Education and Sports, hosted the Uganda Cranes for dinner at State House Entebbe after their commendable performance in the CHAN 2024 tournament. 

Uganda hosted the CHAN 2024 Tournament with Kenya and Tanzania under the Pamoja arrangement.  Games involving the Uganda Cranes were played at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. 

Uganda Cranes finished top of Group C in a group that had South Africa, Algeria and Guinea to storm the quarterfinals.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni returned to Uganda after a fruitful three-day working visit to Egypt, where he engaged in high-level talks and bilateral meetings with his Egyptian counterpart, H.E Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. August 13, 2025

The discussions solidified a strategic partnership focused on the Nile, trade, and regional stability.

During the meetings, the two leaders emphasized the significance of the Nile River, underlining the necessity for equitable sharing of its waters among all Nile Basin countries to foster prosperity and strengthen Pan-African unity.

Museveni inaugurates Aga Khan University and hospital in Nakawa

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officiated at inauguration of the Aga Khan University and commencement of the construction of the Aga Khan Hospital in Kampala. 

During the ceremony, the President recounted the development impact of the Ismaili community and Aga Khan Development Network on Uganda in the past, before the expulsion of foreigners in the 1970s by Idi Amin, which led to the collapse of Uganda's economy until the NRM government led the return of expelled foreigners, something that revived Uganda's economy.

The expo which started today, September 10th ended on to 12th, is being held under the theme: “Celebrating the Life of Hon. Gen. Aronda Nyakairima; A Paragon of Revolutionary,Sacrifice,Pan-Africanism, Patriotism, Courage and an Accomplished Freedom Fighter.”

Museveni addresses the First Regional Ministerial Conference on the EACHEA

President Yoweri Museveni appealed to the East African countries to urgently harmonise higher education standards to promote academic mobility, regional integration and economic development.

While delivering a keynote address at the First Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA) at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Museveni said fragmented education systems were holding back the region’s development and undermining the vision of a unified East African Community (EAC).
