Marries Janet
Long before the title “Your Excellency” echoed in the halls of power, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Janet Kainembabazi Kataaha shared a great story filled with love, emotions, patience, sacrifices and hope. On a lighter note, the couple hails from Ntungamo District in Western Uganda, though they now reside in Rwakitura. Interestingly, during their childhood, both of them attended Kyaamate Girls’ School. At the time, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was three classes ahead of Janet, a small detail that later became part of their shared story.

The following year, Museveni established the Front for National Salvation and fought alongside Tanzanian forces in the Tanzania–Uganda War, which eventually overthrew Amin in 1979.
Entry into Politics & Armed Struggle
As a young Pan Africanist, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was only interested in joining the University of Dar es Salaam with an aim of participating in politics and liberation, to his disappointment, he found that many students were only focusing on careerism.
Determined to make a meaningful contribution, Museveni and other patriotic students formed a Pan Africanist students organisation called University Students African Revolutionary Front (USARF)which connected different students’ different countries across Africa.

Born in Kyaamate
Way back in September 1944, Mzee Amosi Kaguta and Esteeri Kokundeka travelled from Kyaamate to a government hospital in Mbarara in preparation of the birth of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni a child that would later become a treasure of the nation and Africa as a whole.
The president was born on 15th September, 1944 the actual date which he struggled to find out in his youthful era. ln 1976 after the defeat of Idi Amin, Museveni started seeking for the exact date of birth starting from a hospital in Mbarara where he was born from, unfortunately the records were not available.
