Museveni nominated ahead of 2026 Elections
President Museveni was officially nominated as a presidential candidate for the 2026 election on 23 September 2025 at the Electoral Commission offices in Lubowa for his seventh term in office ahead of the 2026 general elections. Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson, confirmed that he had fulfilled all nomination requirements for Presidential candidates
Museveni Awarded globally over COVID 19 fight
Museveni got a global award over COVID-19 fight. The awards organised by the Livelihood Development Initiatives International, Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD), Global World Canada, and The African Union, where the event was scheduled at the First International Post-Covid Conference in Toronto, Canada from July 11-13 2024.
President Yoweri Museveni celebrates 80 years
On 15th September, 2024 President Yoweri Museveni together with his household, religious leaders and a mass of audience including political leaders celebrated his 80th birthday at Kijaguzo in Nakaseke district. The family of Mzee Amosi Kaguta and Esteeri Kokundeka received a bundle of joy that would later be a blessing to the entire nation on 15th September, 1944 in a hospital located in Mbarara. As a child, Museveni grew up closer to parents and his dear great grandmother Nyinacweende who narrated to him stories and also cared much about him.
Museveni receives Revolutionary Leader Of All Times Award
President Museveni received Revolutionary Leader Of All Times Award At Pan African Pyramid Global Awards 2024 organised by the Pan African Pyramid forum, which is an intellectual non partisan discussion forum built on the Pillars of Pan-Africanism, Patriotism and Nationalism whose Ideal is to revive intellectual discourse among the youths with a bias of reconstructing our lost Pan Africanism, patriotism and Nationalism Values and spirit.
Museveni honoured with a monument
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was honoured with a monument for his immense contribution towards the development of the Greater Ankole region. The monument was erected in Rushere Town Council, Kiruhura District by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers. Museveni started his journey on developing Ankole even before becoming the Ugandas President, in his youthful age, he moblised cattle keeper by sensitising them to stop practicing nomadism but rather embrace other best practices of carrying out cattle keeping in one area and improve their livehoods.
President Museveni receives a prestigious award in South Africa
On 1st March, 2023,President Yoweri Museveni was awarded with the prestigious ‘Order of South Africa' medal in recognition for his contribution in the liberation of the people of South Africa from the domination of colonialism. The award was handed over to President Museveni by President Cyril Ramaphosa at a State dinner hosted at Sefako M Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.
Museveni marks 70th baptism anniversary at St. Luke Church of Uganda
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni marked his 70th baptism anniversary with a celebration ceremony at St. Luke Church of Uganda, Kinoni in Mbarara on 6th August, 2017 . Way back his childhood stage, him and his parents travelled 27 miles to Kinoni where they stayed at a family friend's home for some days until Aug 3, 1947, he was then baptized on the same occassion during his parent's wedding at Kinoni, Rwampara Angelicin Church. In his father’s arms, the priest sprinkled little water which signified that he had joined Christianity.
